Among other things green building and design standards aim to limit a project's negative impact on the environment, reduce operating costs, improve occupant comfort, and promote the creation of more connected, sustainable communities.   An increasing number of building owners, developers and occupants, including the Federal government, are insisting that commercial properties be built and renovated to sustainable standards.  Additionally, states and localities are beginning to revise their statutes and building codes to accommodate and sometimes mandate building to sustainable standards.

Riesterer Law works with owners, architects, engineers, construction managers and others involved in the design, development and construction of sustainable buildings to evaluate project parameters and requirements; develop, enforce and interpret construction contracts and performance standards; and overcome obstacles that may be standing in the way of more sustainable building and development.

LEED® Certification

Developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System® (LEED®) provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance goals.  The LEED® rating system is a voluntary international standard for designing, developing and identifying high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Since the launch of the LEED® rating system, the growth and interest in green building projects has expanded tremendously, and a steadily increasing number of property owners are seeing the multi-faceted benefits of not only constructing an environmentally responsible building, but also of attaining LEED® certification.

Because compiling and submitting the formal documentation required for LEED® certification can be a daunting task, Riesterer Law provides LEED® consulting services to its clients.  The firm's founder and managing member, Ryan C. Riesterer, is a LEED® Accredited Professional (LEED AP), which meanRyan possesses specific knowledge and skills to help building owners facilitate the integrated design process and streamline LEED® certification.  In addition to organizing, compiling, managing, preparing and submitting all of the necessary documentation to apply for LEED® certification, the firm also helps building owners and project managers identify and target viable and cost-effective sustainable design elements that will help the project meet established goals for energy efficiency and sustainability, and ultimately achieve LEED® certification.
